Worship Leader Wednesday is a series where we give you quick tips that you can put into practice today to become a better worship leader
Three tips for Sunday Morning
Doing these three things right now will relieve so much stress for Sunday.
1) Plan your songs – right now
Having a plan in place (with appropriate keys and arrangements) will help set your team up for success, and it will take one of the biggest planning elements off your plate, which will allow you to focus on other really important things, like developing teams, coming up with Spiritual Direction times for your service, etc.
2) Communicate with your Pastor
You may be waiting on your Pastor or church leadership to tell you which song(s) they may want (or themes) to go along with their message. Take some time today to sit down with your pastor and let them know you’d like to finalize details for this weekend. Come to them with ideas for songs – they will love your initiative, and it will help them get one more thing off their to-do list as well.
3) Communicate with your team
Once you’ve got things planned, it’s time to let your volunteers and worship team know the details for Sunday. This will allow them to come into to rehearsals or Sunday services prepared. You may need to make some changes between Wednesday and Sunday – and that’s just fine – but your team will love knowing what specific songs (and what arrangements and keys) you’re playing this weekend.

I think serious consideration should be given to developing the song “Worship Leader Wednesday” it sounds like a huge hit to me.
Thanks for all the time you put in helping us less creative folk.

Ha! We will work on it – thanks Ken!
I am the worship leader at my church, and we use a praise team for two P&W songs, and then we have two choir songs (about 65-70 choir members). What do you recommend as far as practice tracks for the praise team and choir to listen to in preparation for Sunday worship? Thanks for any and all help!
