WT TONE PASS (2024)

The Blue Angel is a vintage inspired amplifier from Mesa Boogie capable of a wide variety of Fender-esque tones. Ours is a 4×10 combo, which immediately makes us think ‘Mid-60’s Super Reverb’. But the Blue Angel is capable of much more. It has the ability to run in 6V6 mode (15 watts), EL84 mode (33 watts) or Linked (38 watts). We love the EL84 mode as it tightens things up and gives the amp a bit more chime.

The C-30 is the flagship amplifier from Matchless, capable of a huge variety of tones via it’s two channels (which can also be jumped together). The 12ax7 channel features cleaner headroom and beautiful chime, while the EF86 channel sounds fuller and has more gain. This C-30 is also quite possible the finest pedal platform amplifier in the world.

The Scarlett is the signature amp for Nigel Hendroff of Hillsong Worship. Lots of chime and character – the Scarlett reminds us of classic AC30 amplifiers, and it excels as a pedal platform. The matching Jackson cab is ported and features a Celestion Gold. We also captured this amp through a Matchless 2×12 cab loaded with mis-matched Creamback speakers.

Line 6 has released firmware 3.80 for HX devices (Helix, Stomp), and we’ve received new models based on 3 new amps. We’ve created presets based on these models (Super Reverb, Bogner Ecstasy, and EVH 5150 iii)

The Generator 120 is the flagship amplifier from REVV, and it is capable of an enormous array of tones from cleans to huge high gain lead tones. It features four channels – clean, green (crunch), purple (rhythm), and red (lead). Each channel has tonal options for EQ shifts, boosts, and aggression. This amp can do almost anything.

The Vox AC15 has been a staple in the Vox lineage for decades, and is highly regarded among classic vintage amplifiers. It is not simply a lower wattage version of an AC30. AC15’s have their own character and tone. We find them to sound a bit thicker in the midrange, while still retaining the classic chime that Vox is known for.

The Royalist is a British (Marshall) inspired amplifier, capable of a huge range of classic tones from the lush vintage cleans of a JTM45 to the aggressive rhythm tones of a 100 watt Plexi. The Royalist has three voices, or channels, switchable from ’64 (JTM45), ’67 (JMP), and ’70 (Plexi). What we love about the amp is that it excels in the clean, high headroom type of Marshall sounds, while also delivering awesome gained up rhythm tones.

The Dual Rectifier has become an iconic amplifier in the hard rock and metal genre of music. It is capable of huge rhythm and lead tones, and has been used on countless well known recordings and live tours. It is also a very versatile amplifier, capable of beautiful clean tones, as well as both vintage and modern voiced higher gain tones.

The Stella is Jame Duke’s signature Bad Cat amplifier. Duke is known for playing Chieftain’s, but the Stella isn’t simply Bad Cat’s take on the Matchless Chieftain – to us it sounds like a Chieftain with more AC30 chime. One of our favorite Bad Cat’s we’ve heard yet!

The California Tweed is a 6V6 powered amplifier inspired by the classic Fender designs from the early 60’s. These amps are bright and punchy, but with a bit more midrange than the black-panel Fender designs to our ears. They work beautifully as a clean pedal platform, but also sound great when turned up or pushed with gain pedals.

The Two Rock Traditional clean is designed as a big, beautiful clean platform amplifier. It reminds us of a big Fender type sound, and many people attribute Dumble clean type tones to it. It works extremely well as a pedal platform when set clean.

The BE-100 is revered by many as the ultimate British (Marshall) style amplifier. It features three channels, covering lush cleans to huge lead tones. It can go from vintage Plexi crunch to hot-rodded metal type tones. It is simply the ultimate Marshall style amplifier.

The Revv D25 is designed to be the ultimate single channel clean platform. It leans toward vintage Fender type tones, but with it’s interactive EQ section, you can get a wide range from scooped to mid pushed sounds as well. It sounds amazing as a clean pedal platform amplifier.


The black-panel Fender Deluxe Reverb from the mid 60’s is one of the most sought-after amps of all time. It is considered by many to be the greatest guitar a amplifier ever made. This is a pristine example from 1967, almost entirely original. For classic Fender tones, it simply does not get any better than this. The amp includes the original Oxford 12” speaker.

The Badger 18 is inspired by classic 18 watt designs by Marshall, but Suhr has given it a voice of its own. It creates beautiful, harmonically rich cleans all the way through vintage crunch plexi-type tones. We find the Badger 18 to be a bit thicker and throatier in the midrange than the 30. Both are fantastic sounding amplifiers.

The Independence 35 is Matchless’s first 3-channel amplifier, capable of covering a huge variety of tones from cleans to lead tones. Channel one is clean to edge of break-up, and it’s the million-dollar matchless tone we all know and love. Channels two and three give almost Plexi-type crunch and lead tone, but with a signature Matchless brilliance and grit.

The Copper Deluxe is a 35 watt EL84 based amp that produces beautiful chime and grit, reminiscent of some of our all-time favorite Vox amplifiers. It can go from the classic 60’s British tones to more modern boutique sounds as well.

The Super 100 JH is a rare amplifier Marshall built in the early 2000’s that is a part-for-part re-creation of Jimi Hendrix’s 100w JTM amplifier, which he used live and in the studio. Similar to a JTM45/100, this is simply the best Marshall amplifier we’ve heard here at WT. It can do it all – awesome cleans to huge rock tones.

This is a very well maintained, almost all original example of a classic black-panel amplifier from Fender. The Pro Reverb is a 2 channel (Vibrato and Normal) 2×12 combo that delivers quintessential Fender tone

The MVP 35 is a rare custom shop Morgan amplifier from the MVP line (Master Volume Variable Power). Essentially it is Morgan’s take on a low-wattage Plexi, but with it’s own voice. It will go from rich cleans to a very cool Marshall-esque driven rock tone.
