TONE MATCH Gen2 PATCHES, CAPTURES, AND PROFILES OF OUR VOX AC15 HAND-WIRED

For these patches, we’ve captured a Vox AC15 Hand-Wired amplifier. The result is a set of presets and captures that sound exactly like our amp, and the microphones, preamps, and EQ chains that we use to record it.

The Vox AC15 has been a staple in the Vox lineage for decades, and is highly regarded  among classic vintage amplifiers. It is not simply a lower wattage version of an AC30. AC15’s have their own character and tone. We find them to sound a bit thicker in the midrange, while still retaining the classic chime that Vox is known for.

We captured this beautiful hand-wired AC15 through a 12″ Celestion greenback using a Royer 121 and Earthworks SR25 through a Neve 1073 DPX stereo preamp.

TONE MATCH (Gen 2) PATCHES (Applies to Line 6 and Fractal presets)

These are part of our ‘Tone Match’ line of patches. To create these patches, we make custom IR’s that ‘match’ the HX and Fractal amp models to our real-world amp. The result is the Line 6 and Fractal units sound almost exactly like our actual amplifiers.

The ‘Gen2’ indicates a new process we’ve used when Tone Matching our amplifiers that takes more of the amplifier’s cab and speaker into account, resulting in a more accurate tone match impulse response.

INDIVIDUAL UNIT DEAILS

Line 6 Patches available for Helix (floor, LT, and Native), HX Stomp (including Stomp XL), and POD Go.

This download includes patches for Helix, HX Stomp, and POD Go with options for both single coils and humbuckers. Please make sure to import the appropriate patch for your hardware – they are not interchangeable.

NOTE: The HX Stomp and POD Go folders include ‘FX” patches. These patches include the additional effects blocks from the full Helix patch.

TWO SETS OF PRESETS

The pack includes 2 sets of presets (each with SC and HB options). The presets are labeled ‘A’ and ‘B’, and feature different approaches to signal chain and switching between different amp tones.

  • NOTE: The HX Stomp and POD Go folders include ‘FX” patches. These patches include the additional effects blocks from the full Helix patch. POD Go only includes one set of presets because the unit cannot run dual amp blocks.

A PRESET: The ‘A’ presets feature two amp blocks set up in a stereo pair with all the wet effects feeding into the amps. Think of it like running a large stereo pedalboard into two amplifiers set on the ‘edge of breakup’.

B PRESET: The ‘B’ presets allow to you increase the gain on the amp with a foot switch. You’ll see this switch labeled in the presets, and it is also programmed into the Snapshots. In the ‘B’ presets, the modulation, delay, and reverb effects are placed after the amplifier blocks.

The HX Stomp and POD Go patches cannot fit all the effects into a single patch. For those platforms, we include the amp and essential effects in the main patches, and then we include the additional effects blocks in the ‘FX’ patches. Feel free to mix and match the additional ‘FX’ blocks into the main patches to suite your needs.

HX Stomp includes both the ‘A’ and ‘B’ presets, while POD Go includes a ‘JTM’ preset based on the 64 voice and a ‘PLEXI’ preset based on the 70 voice.

SNAPSHOTS

Helix and POD Go presets include snapshots that allow you to access preset sounds with the press of a single button. These include clean to lead type tones, as well as modulated and ambient tones.

NOTE: The HX Stomp patches do not include Snapshots.

TONEX AMP CAPTURE PRESETS – Compatible with the Tonex/Amplitube Software and the TONEX pedals

The tone model captures increase through the entire gain range of the amp for the normal and top boost channels.

The Tone Model presets are numbered, and the number corresponds to the level of gain in the tone model. Lower numbers equal lower gain, and higher numbers equal higher gain. Typically a ‘2’ or ‘3’ is the ‘edge of breakup’, and is the perfect option to use with pedals.

QUAD CORTEX CAPTURES

For Quad Cortex, we have captured the amp through its entire gain range of the amp for the normal and top boost channels.

The captures are numbered, and the number corresponds to the level of gain in the tone model. Lower numbers equal lower gain, and higher numbers equal higher gain. Typically a ‘2’ or ‘3’ is the ‘edge of breakup’, and is the perfect option to use with pedals.

ALL-IN-ONE PRESETS

Also included are gig-ready (Sunday morning ready, to be more precise) all in one presets utilizing captures of this amp and our drive pedals. We’ve included separate presets for both single coil quipped and humbucker equipped guitars. You can use these presets in both Scene and Stomp mode, and they cover a ton of sonic territory.

A PRESETS: The ‘A’ presets feature the ’64’ (JTM45) voice, and feature two amp blocks set up in a stereo pair with all the wet effects feeding into the amps. Think of it like running a large stereo pedalboard into two Royalist amplifiers set clean.

B PRESETS: The ‘B’ presets allow to you channel switch the amp. To do this, we’ve set up two amp blocks – the ’64 (JTM45) and ’70 (PLEXI) voicings, and we’ve given you a foot switch that allows you to switch between the amp blocks. This lets you go from a clean tone to an aggressive rhythm tone, all through the amp blocks. In the ‘B’ presets, the modulation, delay, and reverb effects are placed after the amplifier blocks.

HOW DO YOU GET THE CAPTURES?

When you place your order, we will need to manually send you the captures through the ‘Cortex Cloud’ app by Neural DSP, available for both iOS and Android devices. First, you need to have the app installed and you must have an account through the app (go here to create an account and access the app).

This is how we will send you the captures:

  1. Please include your Cortex Cloud app username in the ‘Notes’ field when checking out. If you do not include this, we cannot send you the captures. After we receive your order, we (WorshipTutorials) will follow you on the app.
  2. Follow ‘WorshipTutorials’ on the Cortex Cloud app. This will make us ‘friends’ through the app :). If you are not following us, we cannot send you the captures.
  3. After we receive your order, and we ‘Friends’ on the app, we will send you the captures through the app. We bundle the captures into presets, so you will receive one (or more) presets that include all the captures. You will find the captures in the ‘Shared with me’ section on your Quad Cortex.
  4. Please allow up to 5 business days for us to send you the captures. Most orders will be fulfilled within two business days or less. This fulfillment process must happen manually – we will do our best to get you the files quickly. Once the NDSP marketplace opens, this process may change.

Fractal Presets available for Axe-FX III, FM3, and FM9

This download includes patches for Axe-FX III, FM3, and FM9 with options for both single coils and humbuckers. Please make sure to import the appropriate patch for your hardware – they are not interchangeable.

NOTE: The FM3 folder includes an ‘FX” patch. This patch includes the additional effects blocks from the full Axe-FX and FM9 patches. Feel free to substitute any of these effects blocks into the main patch to suite your needs. FM3 only includes one set of presets because the unit cannot run dual amp blocks.

You’ll see this switch labeled in the presets, and it is also programmed into the Scenes. In the ‘B’ presets, the modulation, delay, and reverb effects are placed after the amplifier blocks.

The FM3 presets cannot fit all the effects into a single patch. For that platform, we include the amp and essential effects in the main presets, and then we include the additional effects blocks in the ‘FX’ preset. Feel free to mix and match the additional ‘FX’ blocks into the main patches to suite your needs.

FM3 includes both the A and B presets, but we were not able to use the stereo amps in the A set of presets. They are voiced differently, and the ‘B’ presets will switch amp block channels to go from JTM to PLEXI tones.

BLOCK CHANNELS

For each effect block, we set up all four channels to give you as many options as possible for each individual effect types. For example, in the Compressor block, there are four different types of compression. For drives, we use all available channels in each drive block to get different overdrive flavors. Please experiment with the channels in all the different blocks to find your favorites. Typically we use our favorites in Channel A.

The exceptions to this are usually the amp and cab blocks – for those we usually only set up Channel A.

SCENES

Each preset includes scenes that allow you to access preset sounds with the press of a single button. These include clean to lead type tones, as well as modulated and ambient tones.

KEMPER PROFILES – Compatible with the Kemper Head, Stage, and Profiler Player products

The profiles increase through the entire gain range of the amp for all three voices (64, 67, and 70). Higher numbers indicate higher levels of gain.
