In our acoustic arrangement, we really simplified this song to make it more accessible. There is a fingerpicking part that runs throughout the song that is pretty simple to play if you’re new to fingerpicking.

Nice Job Brian! Nice Pads and recording… keep it up brother!
Thanks Dean!
Brian, thanks so much for this. What kinds of Microphone are you using?
Hey Brian, thanks so much for your dedication. I’ve bought and downloaded the chart kit and started working on playing this. I think your chord diagrams from the 7th fret are off on the Em, D/F#, D, G and C from what you are playing.
Hey Brian, first of all, thanks for the awesome resources on this site!!! I appreciate it so much. Question… what’s the tempo for your Oceans acoustic version? I’m thinking something like 65 or so bpms?
Thanks Ed! It’s 65bpm.
Ugh the pattern is so frustrating. I’m just not getting it.:(
Tips on finger picking part?
Hey Chris – it’s actually a pretty simple pattern – Thumb – 1 – 2 – 1 , … It’s kind of fast which is why it feels difficult. The best thing to do is just slow it down until you can play it smoothly, then practice and gradually speed up.
Sorry I took forever to reply lol, I never saw the reply, but thank you so much, Iv got a much better handle on it, and thanks for your videos in general, it’s incredibly spirit feeding to play these songs and great as budding guitarist
This is probably a dumb question, What is the green thing between your index and middle finger on your picking hand?
That’s my pick 🙂
Chris it is his pick. He holds it in a different position so he can strum easily without moving the pick from different fingers (I think)
True.
U r awesome man. Thank u.
Thanks!
Hey Brian … just a heads up … I noticed here on this page there isn’t any references (a link) to your multitrack lite of this. The button for multitracks and loops doesn’t offer a multitrack.
Hi Russell – I think it should be working ok now. Sorry for the trouble.
Also … the button for More Buying Options takes me to a page which states there is no file found.
dumb question please… with the strumming pattern given, there is no down strum on the 3rd beat. so to me it sounds a little odd in the chorus where the words call, eyes, and rest come on the 3rd beat, and my strum comes just after that. is that ok? or should I alter the strumming pattern? (btw, all these videos are great!)
Hey Ken – I would definitely suggest changing it up if you feel like it fits the song better. Typically I try to lock into the drummer with my strumming patterns, or if I’m playing without a drummer, you can try to replicate the rhythm that a drummer would play, or just make something up that sounds good.
This song sounds great! I chose to do it as my final song in guitar class worth 10% of my mark and my teacher loved it.
Awesome – thanks for sharing Cameron!
I Love this Song.
