The Slim Drive is an awesome little low to medium gain overdrive from Will Sledge FX. It’s appropriately named – this thing is little! It’s extremely transparent, meaning that it won’t add much color to your tone – it’s just the pure sound of your amp but more grit and grind, depending on how you dial it in.
For this demo, we are using a Telecaster style guitar through an Agape Tribute 18w head (see our demo of the amp here)
Controls
You have a very simple control layout with the Slim Drive, just volume and gain. You can use the pedal to push your amp without adding much gain, or you can crank the gain and let the pedal overdrive your sound. We love both of those scenarios.
Thoughts
We seriously love the Slim Drive. It’s very articulate and pushes a tube amp on the edge of breakup beautifully. If you crank the gain, you can get some nice saturated tones, but it never does really venture into distortion territory. You could easily use this as your main overdrive, or as a first stage drive if you stack several drives. It works well to push other pedals as well. Definitely give the Slim Drive a look!
