TONE MATCH Gen2 PATCHES, CAPTURES, AND PROFILES OF A MATCHLESS INDEPENDENCE 35
For these patches, we’ve captured a Matchless Independence 35. The result is a set of presets and captures that sound exactly like our amp, and the microphones, preamps, and EQ chains that we use to record it.
The Independence 35 is Matchless’s first 3-channel amplifier, capable of covering a huge variety of tones from cleans to lead tones. Channel one is clean to edge of break-up, and it’s the million-dollar matchless tone we all know and love. Channels two and three give almost Plexi-type crunch and lead tone, but with a signature Matchless brilliance and grit.
We’ve tone-matched the amp through the matching 2×12 cabinet using a Royer 121 and Earthworks SR25 through a stereo Neve 1073 preamp.
TONE MATCH (Gen 2) PATCHES (Applies to Line 6 and Fractal presets)
These are part of our ‘Tone Match’ line of patches. To create these patches, we make custom IR’s that ‘match’ the HX and Fractal amp models to our real-world amp. The result is the Line 6 and Fractal units sound almost exactly like our actual amplifiers.
The ‘Gen2’ indicates a new process we’ve used when Tone Matching our amplifiers that takes more of the amplifier’s cab and speaker into account, resulting in a more accurate tone match impulse response.

This download includes patches for Helix, HX Stomp, and POD Go with options for both single coils and humbuckers. Please make sure to import the appropriate patch for your hardware – they are not interchangeable.
NOTE: The HX Stomp and POD Go folders include ‘FX” patches. These patches include the additional effects blocks from the full Helix patch.

The FM3 presets cannot fit all the effects into a single patch. For that platform, we include the amp and essential effects in the main presets, and then we include the additional effects blocks in the ‘FX’ preset. Feel free to mix and match the additional ‘FX’ blocks into the main patches to suite your needs.
BLOCK CHANNELS
For each effect block, we set up all four channels to give you as many options as possible for each individual effect types. For example, in the Compressor block, there are four different types of compression. For drives, we use all available channels in each drive block to get different overdrive flavors. Please experiment with the channels in all the different blocks to find your favorites. Typically we use our favorites in Channel A.
The exceptions to this are usually the amp and cab blocks – for those we usually only set up Channel A.
SCENES
- Scene 1: CH1 CLEAN. Base clean tone
- Scene 2: DRIVE 1. Clean tone with overdrive
- Scene 3: CH2 RHY. Rhythm tone featuring channel 2 of the amp
- Scene 4: LEAD. CH2 boosted with drive for lead
- Scene 5: AMBIENT. Clean tone with lots of delay and verb
- Scene 6: AMBI MOD. Ambient clean tone with modulation
- Scene 7: P&W LEAD: Lead tone with big delay and verb
- Scene 8: SWELLS: Ambient swells
AMP CHANNEL SWITCH
We’ve set a button on the on the FC controllers to swap channels in the amp block. In Channel A we’ve set up the clean channel of the amp, and in Channel B, we’ve set up the dirty channel of the amp. This emulates switching between the clean and lead channels on the amp itself.
TONEX AMP CAPTURE PRESETS – Compatible with the Tonex/Amplitube Software and the TONEX pedal
For Tonex, we have captured the amp through its entire gain range of the amp.The tone model captures increase through the entire gain range of the amp for all available channels.
The Tone Model presets are numbered, and the number corresponds to the level of gain in the tone model. Lower numbers equal lower gain, and higher numbers equal higher gain. Typically a ‘2’ or ‘3’ is the ‘edge of breakup’, and is the perfect option to use with pedals.
QUAD CORTEX CAPTURES
For Quad Cortex, we have captured the amp through its entire gain range of the amp. The captures increase through the entire gain range of the amp for all available channels.
The captures are numbered, and the number corresponds to the level of gain in the tone model. Lower numbers equal lower gain, and higher numbers equal higher gain. Typically a ‘2’ or ‘3’ is the ‘edge of breakup’, and is the perfect option to use with pedals.
ALL-IN-ONE PRESETS
Also included are gig-ready (Sunday morning ready, to be more precise) all in one presets utilizing captures of this amp and our drive pedals. We’ve included separate presets for both single coil quipped and humbucker equipped guitars. You can use these presets in both Scene and Stomp mode, and they cover a ton of sonic territory.
HOW DO YOU GET THE CAPTURES?
When you place your order, we will need to manually send you the captures through the ‘Cortex Cloud’ app by Neural DSP, available for both iOS and Android devices. First, you need to have the app installed and you must have an account through the app (go here to create an account and access the app).
This is how we will send you the captures:
- Please include your Cortex Cloud app username in the ‘Notes’ field when checking out. If you do not include this, we cannot send you the captures. After we receive your order, we (WorshipTutorials) will follow you on the app.
- Follow ‘WorshipTutorials’ on the Cortex Cloud app. This will make us ‘friends’ through the app :). If you are not following us, we cannot send you the captures.
- After we receive your order, and we ‘Friends’ on the app, we will send you the captures through the app. We bundle the captures into presets, so you will receive one (or more) presets that include all the captures. You will find the captures in the ‘Shared with me’ section on your Quad Cortex.
- Please allow up to 5 business days for us to send you the captures. Most orders will be fulfilled within two business days or less. This fulfillment process must happen manually – we will do our best to get you the files quickly. Once the NDSP marketplace opens, this process may change.
KEMPER PROFILES – Compatible with the Kemper Head, Stage, and Profiler Player products
For Kemper, we have profiled the amp through its entire gain range of the amp. The profiles increase through the entire gain range of the amp for all channel options.

BUTTON CONFIGURATION
We’ve programmed the buttons on the Headrush Prime to act like a traditional pedalboard. You’ll see individual effects mapped to the different buttons and labeled appropriately. If you’d like to make changes, the process is simple – the Headrush Prime manual provides great documentation if you’d like to create scenes or other button mapping.
AMP CHANNEL BUTTON
This preset uses two Amp Clone blocks – one is a clone of the clean channel and the other is a clone of the dirty channel. We are using Scenes to switch between the two channels. The button labeled ‘AMP CH’ will toggle between the clean and dirty amp clones, effectively changing channels on the amp from clean to dirty.
This uses scene programming, but the other effects will not be changed by this scene switch. When the light is green, you’re on the clean channel. When it is red, you’re on the dirty channel. Make sure that the clean amp clone is first in the chain, and the 2nd amp clone is the dirt channel.
