In this 2nd lesson on finger picking, we’ll go over a more complicated pattern than the initial pattern we learned in part one.
[button link=”http://www.worshiptutorials.com/guitar-lessons/finger-picking-introduction-and-your-first-pattern/”]View Part 1 here[/button]
The first pattern we learned looks like this:
1 a 2 a 3 a 4 a, 1 a 2 a 3 a 4 a, ... T 1 2 1 T 1 2 1, T 1 2 1 T 1 2 1, ...
(if you don’t know what these numbers mean, view the first lesson)
This pattern will be similar, but we’ll bring our 3rd (ring) finger. It looks like this:
1 a 2 a 3 a 4 a, 1 a 2 a 3 a 4 a, ... T 1 2 1 3 1 2 1, T 1 2 1 3 1 2 1, ...
This pattern fills a whole note while the first pattern fills a half note. As with the first lesson, work on accuracy, fluidity, speed, and changing chords.

Thank you Brian, I gave been playing guitar for almost fifty years but very little acoustic. I’m trying to learn finger picking and was thrilled to discover your tutorials. I found you when I was looking for worship songs for guitar. I was wondering if you only play modern song or if you also play songs from say a hymnal i.e. A Firm Foundation? Thanks again.
Thanks Gale – I’m starting to cover some more hymns lately.
These are very helpful Thanks Brian.
